< Melide – Portomarin >

Today we start the hike at Portomarin and arrive at the village of Palas de Rei. There is a long steady climb after Portomarin. The terrain is mostly flat. There are several villages which are Gonzar, Ventas de Naron, Ligonde, Airexe and finally Palas de Rei. The hiking paths are open fields, some forests & some hills. Palas de Rei has several albergues & good restaurants. Palas de Rei is a small town with an agricultural sector. The camino slowly blends into the suburb locations. Palas de Rei is on the direct bus route that starts in Lugo and connects to Santiago de Compostella.
