Today the hike starts at Castrojeriz and reaches Fromista. An alternative is Boadilla del Camino before reaching Fromista. Boadilla is seasonal so check availability. The Camino today crosses the region of Burgos and the region is now Palencia. The hike today starts with a steep climb up the mountain to the top of the meseta. A short level hike, then it descends the mountain top. The walk is flat terrain with vast open fields of wheat. Along the way is an Italian albergue close to Puente Fitero which is on the Burgos limitation and the small village of Itero which is the limitation of Palencia.

Itero is located after crossing the bridge. Itero would be the 1st town of the region of Palencia. The hike after Itero to Boadilla is open terrain and is a long stretch. Boadilla has an albergue, however it is seasonal. The next village is Fromista. This village is from the medieval times, but has become modernized with newer construction. There is a bus that leaves Castrojeriz during the afternoon and arrives at Fromista. This village has several albergues. I would recommend to check these out in Castrojeriz for recommendations and booking.

Castrojeriz to Fromista ~ distance 27 kms . steep climb up the mountain and steep descent downhill. Thereafter mostly flat terrain. If you have health issues take the bus or a taxi to Fromista. That early mountain climb is challenging. Difficulty 7/10.
