< Astorga – Villadangos del Paramo >

Today we start the hike at Villadangos del Paramo and arrive at Hospital de Orbigo. This is a short pleasant hike. The terrain is mostly flat. The hiking trail borders highway N – 120 to Astorga. There are some alternate hiking routes, however the main N-120 is a direct route. Hospital de Orbigo is one of my preferred medieval villages in the Camino and a must stop. The medieval bridge is impressive. Hospital is among the last villages of the Meseta which started in Burgos. The village has a lot of history. The albergues are good, the restaurants are good. Hospital has a good ambiance. The Albergue San Miguel is seasonal & excellent. There is another private albergue a few blocks away. Hospital is a short distance away after Villadangos del Paramo & a good village to stop for a day of rest. This is the last village of the meseta.
