Leon to Villadangos del Paramo
Today we start the hike at Leon and arrive at Villadangos del Paramo. There are 2 hiking trails here. The most traveled one that borders the highway N – 120 to Astorga or the alternate one that goes to Mazarife. The exit out of Leon is industrial. If time is limited you can opt to take the Alsa bus to Villadangos del Paramo & walk to Hospital de Orbigo or simply go directly to Hospital or Astorga. The terrain is mostly flat. I have hiked the alternate Mazarife trail which seems to have been the original pilgrim trail. However, Mazarife is a 2 day hike and services are limited. Villadangos del Páramo is a good stop before Hospital de Orbigo and has a good albergue with restaurants close by.
