Today we leave Pontevedra and arrive at Caldas de Reis. The exit leaving Pontevedra is fairly short and fast. The terrain is mostly flat with an elevation after Alba. A few villages are Alba, San Amaro, Briallo & Tivo along the way. Caldas de Reis has several albergues and restaurants. Caldas de Reis has famous mineral spa hotels. The only mineral spa hotels in the three Caminos. let’s go back to when you started the hike in Porto.
Remember those 2 extra full hiking days you gained leaving O’Porto when you took the subway to Povoa de Varzim. You skipped the industrial sector of Matosinhos. This provided 2 extra days that can now be used at other locations like Caldas de Reis. Or simply take a few extra days in Santiago. Many peregrinos dash through villages like Caldas de Reis. They don’t realize what some of these villages offer in their mad rush to reach Santiago. Relax in Caldas de Reis in the Camino and take that extra day or two you gained by taking the metro out of Porto. Don’t forget to stamp the peregrino passport at each of these villages to obtain the Compostela. .
