Najera
The hike today starts at Logroño and reaches the Village of Najera. The exit path follows the old part of town and the industrial park. The hike continues past a water reservoir and through an open field that reaches the medieval village of Navarrete on a hilltop. There is a good albergue located in Navarrete if you chose to stay. After Navarrete there are open fields of wine farms through Ventosa until you reach Najera. This hike is approximately 29 kms. As an option there is bus service that connects Logroño with Najera.
The village of Najera was the early kingdom of Navarra before Pamplona. Najera had a Sephardim community. The Monasterio de Santa Maria la Real [ museum ] is the original burial location of the Kingdom of Navarra. Najera has good restaurants and is a good place to spend a full day. If you have an extra day you can visit the historic Monastery of San Millan de la Cogolla.
Logroño to Najera ~ 29 kms approximate distance. Mostly flat terrain. Open space and wine growing region after leaving Logroño. Difficulty is 7/10 due to the distance.
