Santo Domingo de la Calzada
The hike today we leave the Village of Najera and arrive at Santo Domingo de la Calzada. The early morning hike can be cold because of the proximity to the snow cap mountains. The terrain is fairly flat. The first village for a morning stop is Azofra. Santo Domingo is a village from medieval times. However, construction has taken over, so it is no longer a small village. The hike is open terrain. Santo Domingo has several albergues and 2 parador hotels. It has a famous church with a medieval legend, and a museum. Santo Domingo has a good transportation infrastructure with bus connections to Logroño or Burgos. Santo Domingo belongs to the region of La Rioja.
